Working to a brief from the Strategic Rail Authority, Quill Power Communications provided guidance and support for the Community Rail Development Strategy for a six-month period during 2005. This included the production of a comprehensive communications strategy, the formation of a cross-industry steering group and the introduction of a communications matrix, all still currently in use.
During this period, Nigel Barber worked directly as a member of the client's communications team and personally managed all communications relating to the CRDS, including the high profile launch of the first 'Community Rail' weekend in May 2005, which featured national and regional advertising and resulted in extensive media coverage.
Quill Power Communications continues to work closely within the Community Rail environment, providing editorial support to the Association of Community Rail Partnerships (ACoRP) in the production of its flagship publication, Train Times. Additional work with the SRA during this period included communications support for the launch of the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) and the Disability Discrimination Act 'Railways for All' consultation document.
